Four-axle self-discharging wagon with retrofitted pneumatic-actuated closing mechanism and P5 inspection.

Modification of wagon superstructure

The end walls of the wagon superstructure are shaped to enable the installation of panels used to attach the loading mechanism, which consists of the following:

  • components of the flap-opening mechanism (including tie-rods, cylinders and emergency opening mechanism),
  • pneumatic system,
  • flaps that form the roof of the wagon after the mechanism is closed.

Loading mechanism

The loading mechanism can open and close the flaps protecting the cargo. The primary operating mechanism consists of pneumatic cylinders.

The loading flaps can also be opened and closed manually or in emergencies using an independent gear system.

Components of the flap-opening mechanism

The flap-opening mechanism will be located symmetrically on the end walls of the wagon, which will be used to attach the system of tie-rods actuated by pneumatic cylinders. The cylinders are supplied by a pneumatic system branching off from the auxiliary line of the wagon.

The pneumatic cylinders rotate to move the tie-rods, which extend to cause the flaps to slide out and to the side during the first stage of flap operation. Then, they rotate during the second stage of flap operation, “folding” onto the side wall of the wagon. This enables unrestricted access to the cargo space of the wagon using suitable loading machinery, e.g., cranes.
